I struggled with a protruding jaw and the malocclusion that came with it, and I really disliked how sunken the center of my face looked from the side. I disliked it so much that once I decided on surgery, I deleted all my old photos.
Since my parents were involved in supporting the surgery, it was important to choose a hospital that both they and I could trust. We focused heavily on safety—checking things like hospital scale, daily surgical volume, and whether there was an anesthesiology department. I personally wanted a natural outcome, so I paid close attention to before-and-after photos, while my parents felt reassured by the doctor’s professional background.
Now, I honestly feel like I’ve been given a fresh start. During recovery, adjusting my diet naturally helped as well, and I’ve been hearing a lot of positive comments from people around me. Seeing the changes in the mirror and hearing those reactions has really boosted my confidence.
