Lately, I've been taking a lot of photos, and the first thing I notice is my eyes. Especially every time I look in the mirror… I never thought about double eyelid surgery before, but now that I'm in my late 30s, it feels like my eyelids are suddenly drooping. Whenever I take pictures, my eyes always look half-closed and a bit puffy, which stresses me out.
I'm the type who uses a lot of muscle to keep my eyes open, so I have quite a few fine lines on my forehead. I thought about getting Botox to help with that, but I heard it could make my eyes look even smaller, so I didn’t dare to try. My eyes kept looking smaller, my wedding was approaching, and my wedding photoshoot was already scheduled for December… I just kept worrying and not doing anything about it.
Then, one day, a friend’s sister suddenly looked different, and when I asked her about it, she mentioned she had surgery at a clinic in Gangnam and was really satisfied. After hearing her positive feedback, I thought, “I really need to do this too,” and immediately scheduled a consultation with Dr. Kim Jin-hyung. When I got to the clinic, it was focused mainly on eyes and noses, not a factory-like atmosphere where they rush people through. The consultation was detailed, and they explained everything thoroughly, so I decided to go ahead with the surgery that very day. I’m not one to procrastinate.
The first thing I told the doctor was, “I want it to look natural, not excessive.” When I mentioned the wrinkles on my forehead from straining to open my eyes, he suggested that doing a natural adhesion along with eyelid correction would be better for my situation, so we went ahead with that. He said it would be more suitable for my pattern than just doing double eyelids alone.
The sedation was a first for me, and it was fascinating to feel like I just closed my eyes for a moment and then woke up to find it was all done. I think I even dreamt a little. The swelling was less intense than I expected, which was a pleasant surprise. I think it took about 20 days for all the small bruises to fully fade. I didn’t keep an exact calendar, but it was roughly around that time.
Now, it's been just over a month since the surgery, and everyone around me says it looks natural and that I did well. In photos, my eyes don't look tired like before, and thanks to the eyelid correction, the straining to open them has definitely reduced the wrinkles on my forehead. If I had known that natural adhesion was such a simple procedure, I would have done it much earlier… But at least I've sorted out this concern before the wedding, which makes me feel much more at ease. I keep telling everyone I know about Dr. Kim Jin-hyung!
