It's almost been a year since my jaw surgery revision. Time really flies... When I first got the surgery, it wasn't even at a plastic surgery clinic; I had jaw surgery along with three other contouring procedures. Back then, I thought, "Wow, my face is going to get smaller!" But after recovery, I realized my jawline wasn't as smooth as I expected, and my face didn't feel smaller at all, which was a bit disappointing… The asymmetry remained, my cheekbones were still a concern, and my face somehow looked longer. Anyone who's had their bones altered knows the stress of asymmetry… The recovery process was tough, and if the results aren’t satisfying, it really messes with your mental state.
So, I was determined to eventually go for a jaw surgery revision, but the issue was money… Jaw surgery isn't cheap to begin with, especially for a revision. I kept telling myself, "I'll do it later..." When I happened to go to Ailumi for a nose consultation, I wasn't even thinking about a revision; I just wanted to check out the nose procedure. But everyone knows they're good at noses and also famous for jaw and contouring work… During the consultation, the doctor asked if I had considered a jaw surgery revision. I told him I was thinking about it but was worried about the costs and other details.
After that, I scheduled a separate consultation specifically for jaw and contouring with Dr. Hwang Chang-heon. He explained in detail how things could improve cosmetically and even addressed the bite issues thoroughly. Listening to him made me think, "I just have to do this," and I finally made the decision. Honestly, the cost was still a concern… Since jaw surgery is already complex and not something you can cut corners on, being a revision made it even more daunting. But I was already leaning toward going through with it, so I mustered all my resolve and went for it.
I decided to put the nose surgery on hold. Since doing the jaw and contouring together would make my nose look wider as my face shrank, I thought it would be better to wait until my facial bones were properly positioned before considering a nose revision. Deep down, I wanted the asymmetry to be corrected and the cheekbones to be reduced, leading to a truly tiny face… I think I endured the recovery process with a bit of that aspiration, resembling Karina a little bit.
Recovery from the revision wasn't any easier; it was just as tough as the first time. The swelling lasted quite a while… For the first few months, I looked at my face and thought, "I look like a dragon..." But I focused a lot on reducing the swelling, and it seemed to go down pretty quickly by my standards. Once the swelling settled down and my face started to take shape, I was genuinely satisfied with the results… The cheekbones were noticeably reduced, and overall my face looked smaller and more refined. This change in my appearance felt completely different from before.
Now, it's been over ten months since my jaw surgery revision, and I'm almost at the one-year mark. In my daily life, I often think, "I'm really glad I did this." For anyone considering jaw or contouring surgery, I keep saying it’s better to do it while you have the stamina and mental strength, before getting older… I've heard that swelling can last up to a year, so it's not completely over yet. I'm curious to see how my face might change over time, so I'm considering writing another review later on.
