It has already been three weeks since I underwent cheekbone (45-degree), square jaw, cortical osteotomy, and masseter reduction surgery with Dr. Lim Jong-woo at One Percent Plastic Surgery. I am not fully recovered yet, but as time passes, I am gradually becoming more aware of the changes.
Before the surgery, my cheekbones were not extremely prominent, but the angular shape of my jaw had always bothered me. Whenever I had plans, I used to cover the sides of my face with my hair, and I paid extra attention to contouring makeup. It was something that stayed on my mind for a long time. I had thought about facial contouring surgery since I was young, but concerns about skin laxity and bone surgery kept me hesitating for several years before finally deciding to proceed.
Rather than relying on app reviews, I focused on clinics that were well known through word of mouth. After consulting at about five different places, I ultimately chose One Percent. During the consultation, the coordinator was friendly and easy to talk to, and the doctor explained everything in a calm, detailed manner, which left a strong impression. The clean environment and well-maintained facilities also played a part in my decision.
Although there is still swelling at three weeks post-surgery, comparing it to before, the difference is noticeable. Because of that, I find myself looking in the mirror more often. Before the surgery, I spent a lot of time worrying and even considered not going through with it, but now it feels like I worried more than necessary. Looking back, I think I could have done it sooner.
Even though it is still early in recovery, daily life feels more manageable than expected. I am being careful with food, but as long as I cut things into smaller pieces, eating is not too difficult. My mouth opening has also been better than I anticipated, which surprised me. For now, I am focusing on continuing recovery at a steady pace ^^
